Courses

Versions, assigning a course, gates, previewing and extra time.

A course puts lessons in order and decides when each one opens. A class with lessons can become a course: on the Course tab, press Turn these lessons into a course. The class keeps its lessons and results.

Versions

On Courses, each course has versions: Draft, Published or Archived. Edit a draft, Publish it, and start the next one with New version from this.

Assigning

On a class's Course tab, choose the Published version, the day it Starts on, and the Time zone (whose Monday a gate means). Then press Assign.

When a newer version is published, Move the class to version …. Everything your pupils have already done carries over.

Gates

A gate is what has to be true before a lesson or step opens. Nothing set means it's open to everyone. Press Edit beside one and choose any of:

  • the lesson or step before it is finished;
  • a quiz that must be passed;
  • a quiz that must reach a score;
  • Opens at a date and time;
  • Closes at a date and time.

Save with nothing set to remove the gate. Release to the class opens it for everyone now. A pupil who has been let through stays through.

Previewing as a pupil

Press Preview beside a pupil to see the course exactly as they see it. Nothing in the preview changes their record. From there you can:

  • Let this pupil through a locked step;
  • give Extra goes on a test;
  • give Extra time.

Extra time

Extra time multiplies every timed quiz in the class for that pupil, up to twice the usual time. 1 is the usual time. No reason is asked for or kept, and the pupil's classmates can't see it.
