The ways to play
Each quiz mode, what you do in it, and how it's marked.
A quiz can be played in more than one way. The ways a quiz offers are on its card.
| Way to play | What you do |
|---|---|
| Find them on the map | You're asked "Where is …?" Press that place on the map. |
| Place the outlines | Drag the outline to where it belongs, then press Place it. |
| Drop the pins | Press the map where the place is, drag the pin to adjust it, then press Drop the pin. |
| Find them by their flag | You're shown a flag. Press the place it belongs to. |
| Pick the right flag | You're given a place's name. Choose its flag from the grid. |
| Select by region | Select every province in the region named, then press Submit. |
Not every quiz has every way. Flags only come with sets that have flags, and Pick the right flag only with sets small enough for a grid.
How answers are marked
Find them on the map, both flag modes and Select by region are right or wrong. In Select by region you need exactly the region's provinces: none missing and none extra.
Place the outlines and Drop the pins are marked by distance, so a near miss still counts:
- close enough, and you get full marks;
- further away, and you get part of the marks;
- too far, and you get none.
After each answer you see how close you were: Correct!, So close!, Nearly there or Not this time.
Your score is the average over the whole quiz. A question you didn't answer counts as nothing.
Small places
Some places are too small to press, like Monaco or the Vatican. They get a dot, and you press the dot.
