Creating a class
Setting up a class, paying for it, and handing out the codes.
You need a teacher account. Make one with Create an account, then open Classes from the menu and press Create a class.
The form
- Class name: what you and your pupils see, like "Year 7 Geography".
- Web address: one word of lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. Pupils open the class at /c/ followed by this word.
- Pupils: one name per line, up to 60 at a time. You can add more later.
Press Create and pay. A class costs:
- $1 per pupil for the school year, a "class seat";
- $4.95 for your teacher place for the school year, once, however many classes you teach.
The form adds it up as you type the names, before you pay. A class is paid for one school year, which runs to the next 31 July.
The names you type are seen only by you, on this class's pages. They're encrypted with a key for this class alone, and pupils never see each other's names.
Handing out the codes
When the class is made, you see each pupil's Username and Claim code. Give each pupil:
- the class's address;
- their own claim code.
A pupil joins by typing their code and choosing a six-digit PIN. A code works once. Until it's used, it stays on your roster, so you can come back for it.
Pupils sign in afterwards with their username and PIN. If one forgets either, see The roster.
